“Growing Ripe” is a micro-site dedicated to stimulating conversation surrounding the gender imbalance of sexual pleasure. For my thesis, I conducted research on the female orgasm, and how the practice and portrayal of feminine climax affect mutual pleasure.
“Growing Ripe” consists of four parts, the first of which is my essay, “Why He’s Not Making You Cum,” the foundation to “Growing Ripe.” The second is “HEAD,” a zine comprised of interviews I conducted with sex workers; my personal essay; nude, macro-still-life, and candid-portrait photography; as well as illustrations and an array of typographic layouts. The third is a claymation film, which explores mutual pleasure in relationships, titled “Experiments 1, 2, 3.” The fourth and final part of “Growing Ripe” is a documentation process film, showing how I created most of the pieces included in my thesis.
