Monster? I Hardly Know Her!

“Monster? I Hardly Know Her!” is a collection of wearable installations focused on the abysmal depiction of queer people in horror cinema, which is way too apparent and upsetting to a queer horror enthusiast like myself. Although we’re often framed to be monsters, I know behind that tacky veneer there are still recognizable and relatable human beings, even if we look a bit different sometimes.
These three pieces combine cues from the historically queer-driven club scene of NYC, classic horror-story visuals, a smorgasbord of mediums and a frightening amount of rubber cement in order to drive home the simple message: No matter how scary you’re told something is, the unknown only stays unknown until you look a bit deeper.
